Every day is exciting.

Even when he was a schoolboy, Daniel already knew that he wanted “to do something with business and languages”, and planned his practical training and overseas placements to achieve this ambition. He has never regretted his decision, almost twelve years after graduating. In 2017, after ten years as Senior Manager at Accenture Strategy, he joined innogy Consulting. At iCon, the different segments, customers and problems he comes into contact with are a source of inspiration – no two days are the same. From the very beginning, he has made full use of his experience in sales and has continually developed his knowledge and skills. His project highlights are cases in point. In the innogy private customer segment, he and his team launched the “Digital Attacker” project. “This included the establishment of a service company for customer service as well as the launch of a new energy supplier.”

The energy industry in the 21st century

Thanks to his many years of professional experience, Daniel has now built up his own network, particularly within the innogy retail segment. He uses these contacts and his experience to proactively address cross-cutting issues. “An energy supplier’s sales department needs to master many challenges;” says Daniel. “Among other things, my aim is to help renew outdated business models and propel innogy’s sales into the 21st century.”

Combining profession and family

After ten years working as an external consultant, Daniel felt he needed more time for his family. This can often be a problem for working consultants, but innogy Consulting helped make it possible. Today he enjoys working on exciting projects, while at the same time spending more time with his family. This means Daniel only heads out to work in the morning once he has helped take care of his children. In his own words, this is “quality time in everyday life”. He is passionate about basketball, and if he can find the time beyond his recreational activities with his kids, he likes shooting some hoops.

People make the difference

For Daniel, in addition to his wide-ranging tasks at innogy Consulting, it’s the people there that make it stand out. He feels there is a strong bond linking people between different levels and practices. “Mastering challenges with smart colleagues and in a productive atmosphere is fun.” The result is a sense of community; after the birth of his second child, for instance, the HR manager surprised him with a handwritten card.

If he could trade places for one day, his fantasy job would be behind the scenes at a whisky distillery.
