Background and Objectives
- A leading European energy generator asked innogy Consulting to develop a target organisational setup for the year 2025
- Together with a multidisciplinary working group of experts of the relevant divisions and functions we developed a target design covering the dimensions steering model, (de-)centralization of functions (technical, commercial, management & support, etc.), target dimensioning (FTEs, shift logic, make or buy)
Approach
- Definition of frame: Structure and size of the generation portfolio in 2025 (in MW), design principles and rules of cooperation for the working group
- AS-IS analysis: Description of the steering logic and KPIs, mapping of the AS-IS organisational setup, mapping of the current functions (AS-IS FTE, shift logic) incl. involved areas beyond the core functions
- Workshop series with the working group: Introduction and objectives, elaboration on initial inputs in break out groups, synthesis of results, discussion and iteration of results based on new insights
- Summary of results to descriptions of archetypal organisational setups for the board of directors
Results
- Detailed organisational structure accounting for regional specifics, incl. recommendations for centralisation and outsourcing of functions
- Description of the steering logic and KPIs as well as interface to other involved business units (group center, wholesale power trading)
- Indicative target dimensioning of FTEs based on internal and external benchmarks
- Evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of each option and final recommendation
